The Kfz.385 was a tanker based on the chassis of the Opel Blitz, a rear-wheel drive truck used extensively by the German armed forces during the war. The tanker was used to transport and distribute fuel, often to refuel military units in the field.
The vehicle featured a chassis-mounted fuel tank, usually with a capacity of around 3000 litres. It had a tri-axle configuration to support the weight of the fuel. The cabin of the Opel Blitz offered space for the driver and sometimes for an additional assistant or operator.
